The Office of Emergency Management Raises Awareness on Disaster Preparedness

Each September, Emergency Management organizations nationwide raise awareness about steps that individuals, families and communities can take to be ready for disasters and emergencies. This year’s National Preparedness Month theme is Prepare to Protect and highlights how preparing for disaster helps protect everyone you love.

“Emergencies and disasters can strike at any time.  We all have a role in being better prepared for the unexpected,” says Emergency Management Coordinator Chief Jorge Rodriguez. “Being able to care for yourself, your family and pets during a disaster by being prepared helps make an already difficult situation into something more manageable.”
Every week in September, a different topic about preparedness will be highlighted:

Week 1: Sept. 1-4    Make A Plan

Week 2: Sept. 5-11   Build A Kit

Week 3: Sept. 12-18 Low-Cost, No-Cost Preparedness

Week 4: Sept. 19-25 Engage Your Community on Preparedness
